Day 1: Fes - Azrou - Ziz valley - Merzouga

Our 5-day Morocco private tour from Fes starts towards city of Ifrane, called as “the Switzerland of Morocco”. Then we pass Midlet in the High Atlas mountains. We will stop at the famous cedar forest, where you may see the Barbarian apes. Our Morocco desert journey continues along the spectacular Ziz valley, with panoramic views along the way. We will pass a few Berber villages to reach Erfoud, and Rissani. In the evening we reach Merzouga, and we stay here overnight in a local hotel/riad.

Day 2: Merzouga - Sahara Desert - camel trek

Our private Morocco trip continues next morning. After breakfast, we will explore the local desert area visiting the village of Khamlia – the home of Gnawi people, originally slaves from Sudan - to experience their music and lifestyle. We will be guided by an experienced camel guide, and we’ll explore the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi before spending our first night under the stars in a traditional Berber nomad tent. The dinner will be served in the tent where you will spend this night.

Day 3: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades valley

Our private 5-day Morocco trip continues in the morning by camel trek. You will also enjoy the sunrise over the dunes. Then we get back to Merzouga village and after breakfast we drive towards Tinghir and Todra gorges - the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here we’ll have the opportunity to hike along its valley. After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. We stay overnight in local hotel/riad in the heart of the gorge.

Day 4: Dades valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate

Today after breakfast we drive through the Dades Valley passing “the route of thousand Kasbahs”. We’ll stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose city” where you may purchase the rosewater which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. After that we continue to Ouarzazate, called as “the Hollywood of Africa”. We stay here overnight in local riad/hotel.

Day 5: Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

On the last day, we drive to Ait Ben haddou which is the largest Kasbah in Morocco and is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage. It was a backdrop for many famous movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Our private Morocco trip continues through the Tizi ‘n’ tichka pass at 2260 m, passing the High Atlas Mountains. We arrive to Marrakech later afternoon.

Driving times vary from 3-6 hours per day depending on the route, with regular stops at scenic viewpoints, villages, and attractions. The drives through the Atlas Mountains and desert are scenic and part of the experience.

What is the camel ride like?

The camel ride lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours through the Sahara dunes. Camels walk slowly and steadily — no experience is needed. You will ride at sunset or sunrise for the best experience. Each person has their own camel, led by an experienced Berber guide.

What are the desert camps like?

Our luxury desert camps feature private tents with real beds, hot showers, electricity, and Wi-Fi. You will enjoy traditional Berber dinner, live drumming music around a campfire, and an incredible starry sky. Standard camps are also available at lower prices.

What should I wear in the Sahara desert?

Comfortable, loose clothing is best. In spring/autumn, bring a light jacket for evenings. In summer, wear light fabrics, a hat, and sunscreen. In winter, bring a warm jacket as desert nights can be cold (5-10°C). Comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended for walking on sand.
